Description

Description

The Elk River Kestrel Platinum Series 4 D-Ring Harness is a clear winner for use by solar installers for many reasons:

No waist belt

  • Waist belts get in the way and dig into your belly when continually bending over on a roof. So without the waist belt, this harness gives you plenty of room to move around without chafing.

4 D-rings

  • Two aluminum D-rings (one on each hip) for tool connections and positioning, one steel D-ring on the chest strap great for positioning, and one aluminum angled D-ring on the back.

Quick connect buckles

    • The most common method you’ll see used for lower-end fall protection harnesses is the mating buckle. A mate buckle is where you have to twist an oval metal ring through another oval metal ring and pull it through with the fall protection harness bunched up between the two. In our opinion, the mating buckle is one of our least favorite features of lower-end harnesses.
    • With this harness, there is no mating buckle. It locks together with quick connect buckles which make it very easy to put on and take off even when wearing gloves during the winter months.

Quick-adjust shoulder and leg straps

    • Standard fall protection harnesses have buckles with the fabric of the harness woven through buckles. To adjust the harness usually needs to be off and rewoven to the necessary size.
    • With the Kestrel Harness, there are quick-adjust buckles with a lever which allows you to easily adjust the harness while wearing it to the proper fit and comfort. This makes the process faster, easier, and much more accurate.

Extremely comfortable

    • Not only did we find the fit/design of this harness extremely comfortable for working on a roof (bending over and stretching out all day long), but it is also lightweight and stylish. It is made of nylon polyester webbing, nylon polyester thread, aluminum & steel hardware, breathable padding on back/shoulder and leg straps, and 6 lanyard parks. This harness meets and exceeds OSHA 1926, ANSI Z359.11, CSA Z259.10 requirements along with meeting Class A: Fall Arrest, Class P: Positioning, and Class L: Ladder Climbing with a 400 lbs weight limit.

Made in the USA

To recap the features:

  • Four D-rings: Aluminum 70º D-ring at back, two aluminum D-rings on hips, one steel D-ring on chest strap
  • Quick-connect buckles on chest and leg straps
  • Breathable padding on back/shoulders and leg straps
  • Pull down adjusters on shoulder straps
  • Lanyard parks
  • Fall indicators
  • Made of polyester and nylon
