Description
The Module "Mod Spacer™" is an innovative solution to assist solar installers with setting the gap between solar panels with ease.
If you've made a few makeshift spacers in your day (aka mid clamps) you can appreciate the value and consistency this little tool can provide.
FEATURES
- Available in multiple sizes for compatiblity with popular solar racking systems
- Ergonomically designed for easy handling: Easy to grasp and remove
- Durable plastic construction: prevents module scratching & hazard of dropped components
- Bright, high-visibility color for easy location
- Compatible with: K2, IronRidge XR Flush Mount, Quickmount Q Rail, SnapNrack Ultra Rail, Unirac SolarMount and RoofMount racking systems
- Sold in packs of two
There are two styles available, here's a bit more about each to help determine which you need:
CAM SPACER
The Cam is particularly advantageous for steep roof installations, where removing traditional spacers can be difficult and time-consuming. Featuring a clever cam mechanism, this spacer offers a quick and reliable way to maintain precise spacing during installation. When engaged, the cam securely holds the spacer in place, and with a simple rotation, it releases easily once the panel is secure. Th
PEG SPACER
The Peg is designed to enhance efficiency, particularly for larger, flat arrays where speeding up the installation process is essential. It offers two innovative features: the Peg can perch on the edge of one module, allowing the next to be lowered into place - a valuable advantage when accessing the gap between modules is challenging. Additionally, the Peg can be attached to 3/4" EMT conduit, creating a convenient and efficient "Spacer Bar" system.
More about the Spacer Bar:
- Two Peg spacers are needed to create a spacer bar for one solar panel
- A 10' stick of EMT can support 3-4 portrait modules or 2 landscape modules simultaneously
- The Peg includes a thumbscrew for easy tightening to the bar
- Each Peg is equipped with rubber feet, allowing the bar to rest safely on the module without slipping.
SPACING CHART
Refer to the table below for the recommended Mod Spacer™ size based on your solar racking system:
- A 1/2" Mod Spacer will leave a 1/2" gap between adjacent solar panels.
- The 20mm Spacer is exactly 20mm, which is just a hair over 3/4".
Solar Racking Product |
Racking Manufacturer Minimum Recommended Gap |
Recommended Mod Spacer™ Size |
---|---|---|
K2 | (none) | 1/2″ |
IronRidge XR Flush Mount | 3/8″ | 1/2″ |
Quickmount Q Rail | 1/4″ | 1/2″ |
SnapNrack Ultra Rail | 3/4″** | 20mm (3/4″) |
Unirac SolarMount | 1″* | 20mm (3/4″) |
Unirac RoofMount | 1/4″ | 1/2″ |
*No minimum gap size specified. However, mid clamps leave a 1″ gap between panels.
**SnapNrack allows as small as 1/8″ gap, but recommends 3/4″ to promote airflow and allow for longer roof attachment spans in some circumstances.
